Best Amp Stand For Blues Junior III and IV

Do you problems bending over when playing on stage to adjust your Fender Blues Junior amp? Or you just want to have a clearer sound from the amp by having it directing at you instead of the floor?

Then you will know why you need to use an amp stand.

The best amp stand for fender blues junior is Onstage RS7000. It is rock solid and very steady. It can also be easily folded to store away compactly. Best of all, you will hear yourself much better without having to dial the volume up. If you want better sounds and also to play better, get this amp stand.

Top 3 amp stand for Fender Blues Junior

There are 3 amp stand brands that I trust with my Fender Blues amps.

  • Onstage RS7000: It holds well to small sized amp well so a Fender Blues Junior will be pretty comfortable fitting it. Once it up, I can read the displays and buttons more easily. In the past, I need to bend down to adjust the amp and this can potentially damage the guitar if I am not mindful of it. Currently, I am using the lowest setting to make the amp more secure.
  • Gator Framework: There is really very little difference between the Onstage and Gator amp stand. This is also very solid and steady with a good fit for a Fender Blues Junior. The reason I picked the Onstage model is just because I saw more reviews using Fender than Gator so I feel safer buying this.
  • Music Gear Deluxe: A cheaper alternative is this brand, which can hold up to 150 lbs. The only problem is that it tits pretty far away so an amp with an open back might fall through. To avoid this, you will need to reverse the it supports the way. It is a bit of work, which is why I didnt’ get this even though it is 50% cheaper than the other 2.

Side note: you need to set up the amp stand correctly. I have watched videos where the stand seems to topple easily. That is because they have set up the stand upside down. It is pretty easy to do so though so make sure you don’t make this mistake.

Things to look out for when buying an amp stand

  • Sturdy: That is the most important as you want your amp to be rock solid
  • Fits well: This is why getting the right stand for your particular amp brand is important. Different amp stands accommodates different kinds of amp.
  • Compact: I want something compact so that it can be stored away easily
  • Height settings: Have different height settings so that you ca easily adjust to the height that suits you

Guitar amp on stand vs floor

The difference between amp on stand vs floor is where the sound is directed. On the stand, the amp is projecting sound directly towards you so it is clearer and doesn’t need high volume. In contrast, having the amp on the floor means you need to up the volume and this might cause hearing distress on your audience.

Problems with amp on the floor

  • Sound is aiming at your feet and you tend to overcompensate by upping the volume and treble
  • Everyone on the stage as well as the audience will be getting their ears blasted
  • You will hear mostly the bass and mids so you will think the note is flatter than it actually is
  • The mics wouldn’t be able to pick the guitar amp so that pounds the accuracy problem, which in turns worsens the increase volume problem.
  • Stage might be unstable so any kind of movement or the drums might disturb the reverbs of the amp. It might still happen on a stand but less so.

Problems with amp on stand

  • You get lessor of the bass response. Might be an issue for the bass players but if you are not, then this is not a concern. This reason for the non concern is that you do not want a strong bass to fight with your drums or bass guitarists. By focusing on the mids and highs, your guitar sound helps the overall band music to sound better.
  • The venue you are playing at might not have microphones so you need to dial up the volume. If that amp is blasting straight at your ears, you might be deaf lol

Alternate positions to place your amp

If neither the floor nor a stand meets your need, here are some less discussed positions or methods which I think can work well:

  • Place the amp on the floor but find a way to tit it upwards so it faces you. If you prefer this position, I recommend the Onstage RS4000, which is a floor amp that allows up to tit the amp up.
  • It is strong and sturdy as the RS7000 but is closer to the floor.
  • It is meant for smaller amps like the Fender Blues Junior as it can hold up to 100 lbs only.
  • You can see how it looks like below.

  • Place the amp on the floor but put another microphone near it. This will help you to hear better without needing to up the volume. See image below.
Putting a mic near the amp on the floor

So, what is the best position for guitar amp after knowing the pros and cons of floor vs stand? I recommend the stand or any other ways to alleviating your amp off the ground. It can be another big ass amp, or the staircase or whatever. Having the amp off the ground, especially on stage definitely helps you to perform better by hearing more accurately.

Conclusion

Having the guitar amp on a stand has its advantages. You will hear the output better and the control becomes easier.

However, there are some who insisted that this will reduce the bass quality of the amp. I personally don’t think this is a big issue, especially when you are not the bass guitarist.
